[Visiting Assistant Professor of Education ]
Wilkes University invites applicants for a [full time
visiting assistant professor] in the [College of Arts, Humanities, and
Social Sciences; Department of Education & Psychology] beginning [August,
2004]. Wilkes University is an independent institution of higher education
with approximately 1,800 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students located in
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a mid-sized city within two and one-half hours
driving distance of New York City and Philadelphia. [The Department of
Education & Psychology prepares students for teaching positions in early
childhood, elementary, secondary, and special education fields.]
The successful candidate
is responsible for [teaching undergraduate courses in Effective Teaching and
Special Education areas and includes supervision of student teachers].
Teaching, mentoring, and advising are expected of all faculty members at Wilkes.
Service to the University and the community as well as scholarly activities
support the student-centered core.
[An earned doctorate in
an educational field or ABD is preferred]. The
ideal candidate will be a certified teacher and will have prior K-12 teaching
experience. College level teaching experience is beneficial. Knowledge of
methodologies for special needs students is essential to the position. Salary is
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
