CEC Projects Provide Link to IDEA Resource Materials

CEC's two leadership initiatives, the ASPIIRE and ILIAD Partnership Projects, have a wide variety of IDEA-related information and materials on their website, called the IDEA Practices Web site. Funding for the two initiatives comes from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (Agreement Nos. H326A80005 and H326A80006). The Partnership Projects also receive support from CEC's Association Partners. Following are a few of the resources you can find at the IDEA Practices Web site, www.ideapractices.org.

Materials Provided by OSEP

In addition to the full text of the IDEA '97 Law and Regulations, the IDEA Practices Web site features a large number of resources provided by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). These resources are provided to help you understand, interpret, and implement IDEA. The IDEA Practices Web site has created Web-enhanced versions of most of these documents. This attachment contains an analysis of the significant issues raised by the public comments received on the NPRM published on October 22, 1997 (62 FR 55026), and a description of the changes made in the proposed regulations since publication of the NPRM. For each section of the regulations that has related comments the section is listed, followed by comments, a discussion of the comments, and the changes made as a result of the comments. Shortly after the IDEA '97 Final Regulations were released, OSEP sponsored two satellite telecasts to better inform educators, parents, and policymakers about the provisions of the IDEA regulations. Both broadcasts featured Judy Heumann, Assistant Secretary, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), and Tom Hehir, former Director of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). The United States Office of Special Education Programs' IDEA 97 Training Package

This training package examines the legal requirements and provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997. The package consists of two binders: the Curriculum binder, which contains background information, resources, handouts, and training scripts on the law.
