Oak Leather Chairs

A very comfortable and undoubtedly sturdy chair would be oak leather chair – the ideal combination of comfort, plushness and sturdiness. No doubt, this will be a little expensive but these chairs are for those for whom budget is not a huge constraint. Obviously, for such successful, wealthy, important people such chairs would only add to their image, stature and personality.

Oak is a tried and tested wood which has been known for several centuries for its durability and toughness.

Another novel chair is the oak, leather, rocking chair – this will be very useful either for elders, children or for working men and women after a hard day at work or at home. Sitting on such a chair can be quite relaxing – you may choose to just snooze off, or to read a book or watch and interesting movie or serial on the television or the DVD player. The rocking sensation can hasten the process of sleep especially if you are quite tired, physically or mentally or both.

An oak leather rocking chair is not too difficult to make if you wish to make the effort. One would need two lengths of wood, which are nearly one inch in thickness, less than four inches of width and approximately twenty inches in length. You would need to then decide which would be your top ends and to mark them with a pencil. From the below, please mark approximately six inches for each leg – here, also, please mark it with a pencil. From this mark which you have made, with the help of the router, a notch needs to be cut which would be about six inches long and nearly an inch of depth on each leg. These notches, created, would serve the purpose of holding the top end support in place.

It would be your decision to make the top end support more decorative – where the seat rests on, would be needed to be kept straight whereas a curve would have to be cut into the underside.

With the help of a pencil, draw the curve in the manner which you desire and then cut it with the help of a jigsaw. Please make sure hat the front support should be approximately two feet long, nearly an inch of thickness and about half a foot should be the width.

Now, pour some strong glue into the notches which you have created on the front legs, then, fit the top support into these notches which you have cut. Care should be taken to see that both the front support and the legs are square. In order to make the support absolutely tight, drive a screw through both ends of the top support and into the legs as well.
